Midweek Thoughts

Rev. Rachel Helgeson will be leading our worship service.

Palm Sunday

Scripture: Isaiah 50:4-9a / Mark 11:1-11

Message: Hosanna! Loud Hosanna!

As we approach Holy Week, for a moment consider how God has worked through you in Lent.  If you gave up something, what have you experienced in that discipline? If you have taken something on like journaling or volunteering, what has that experience been like for you?  How has God worked in these reflective points?  Have you felt resistant to the practice?  Do you feel guilty because you made mistakes along the way?

Perhaps you did not start a Lenten practice and wonder what that may have been like.  There is still time.  During Holy Week you can take a moment during your day to stop, reflect, and pray.  Take note of how this spiritual practice molds your everyday life. Take note of how God is speaking in the quiet.

Remember that Christ is in the midst.  As we journey through the end of Jesus’ life through his triumphal entry to Jerusalem, to the betrayal of Judas, and his death on the cross – Christ will come again.  Jesus is waiting for us to hear his voice. Jesus is waiting for us to be in relationship with him.  Jesus is waiting for us to respond.

5th Sunday Giving: This Sunday is the fifth Sunday of the month.  We will be taking a special offering to help supplement the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund.  The fund helps meet the in between needs of our members, community members, and weary travelers passing through.  We never know friends when we will be entertaining angels in disguise.

Mission Meal: We will be raising funds through our monthly mission meal for chickens in Africa.  We will purchase the chickens from the Presbyterian Church USA who will deliver the chickens to people in need.  Chickens are a wonderful source of food through the delivery of their own eggs, other chickens, and of course protein from the chickens themselves.  Join us after worship for this worthwhile event and also celebrate the life and work of Beth Lamont!

Women’s Luncheon: Join the ladies for good food and good conversation Monday March 30th at the Elks club from 11:30am – 1pm.  Come and go as you can!
